Food-4-Thought With the Peace Warrior

February 9, 2019

In her article, The True Power of Femininity, Renee Wade shared a beautiful story of how the life of one of America’s ex-presidents was saved by a strange encounter between a tiny woman and an assassin.

The power of femininity has been greatly utilized by millions of women of all ages, races, ethnicities and religions to accomplish their goals for generations. One of such women is Liberian-born Leymah Gbowee popularly known as the Peace Warrior. Leymah literally ‘got sick and tired of being sick and tired’ of the spate of killings and atrocities in a war-torn nation. She believed she had a responsibility towards her people and decided to act.

Leymah Gbowee who celebrated her 47th birthday on February 1st, is an incurable optimist who believed the fate of her country rested on the shoulders of the mothers. To that effect, she championed a cause for women to harness the power of their femininity towards achieving a war-free and democratic Liberia.

Her's is a very inspiring story indeed. We all have the power to effect change in our community if only we are willing to make those sacrifices. Posterity will judge us fairly, I hope.

Leymah, if you ever come across this article, here’s wishing you a happy belated birthday. Please keep up the good work.

Kudos to all the men and women out there making great sacrifices for others to thrive and maximize their potential.

Enjoy your weekend!
